SILENT FURY WORKS FOR THE KING GEORGE XV STAKES*

What an amazing year the stallion was having! Marissa could barely contain her excitement every time she thought about Silent Fury. ALL of Rising Fury's foals had been great successes on the track, especially later in the careers. Furious Passion was the exception - he'd been a freak in his three year old season by becoming a Triple Crown Champion. Silence had been grade two at the beginning of the year, and he was now seven wins later with a record of 50-19-17-10. If he kept this winning streak up, he'd be well on his way to the Hall of Fame. It was the highest honour a racehorse could recieve, and it was one Silent Fury was striving to achieve. The stallion had always been good, but now he was amazing.

The next race on the hit list was a race at The Wire, the King George XV Stakes. With no important 4yo+ turf races running at Green Horse Fields until the end of May, the stallion was venturing back to the track where he had won one of the biggest races on The Wire's calendar - The Wire Finish Cup Turf*. Right now, their only competition was a colt from Witch Creek Stables by the name of Frozen Motion. The colt had just reached grade one, and had a record of 32-13-10-6. He was said to be a pace presser, which was a position like stalker but meant he constantly pressured the front runners so they gave more speed. Silent Fury was a front runner, but the stallion already set blistering paces so it was unlikely Frozen Motion would push for even more speed.

Marissa was crouched over the dark bay thoroughbred's withers, reins held firmly in hand as he galloped strongly. Today he was doing just a short and sweet gallop to burn excess energy for his last work before the race on Saturday. Up the backstretch he charged, ears turned away from the rushing wind, which made for a fierce look on his face. There had not been rain in a few weeks so the turf was firm underfoot, but with just the right amount of give.
