On the track, Speedy is extremely competitive. He simply has to win. In his mind, absolutely no one is faster than he is and if they try to pass him in a race, he'll try to knock them flat. For this reason, he needs a strong and experienced jockey to keep him in check. Off the track, even though he is still young, Speedy acts like a fully grown stallion. He can be quite aggressive towards other horses and even his handlers. Especially if he doesn't like someone.
