Italian Beauty
"Beauty"
#1487 Y14 2yo 16hh Filly
Beauty is the queen of the paddock, the bully who walks all over the other horses. Her teeth are her weapon of choice and she's left her mark on many, as well as a few unwitting people. With her handlers she has little regard for personal space so it is a must when handling this girl to be very mindful of where your feet are - she's broken a couple of toes already in her short time on earth. Beauty is also not a fan of being tied up and will pull to free herself so usually she is held and kept calm by one person while another grooms or saddles her. She also hates to be alone, and requires to be stabled next to and paddocked with a friend - usually her second in charge, Glorious Sunrise. Generally speaking, this girl just likes to have a bit of an attitude and be a bit of hard work. If you see her on the track, you'll notice her walk, trot and canter are more a dance than anything. It's when she gallops that she really gets down to business, and faced with an opponent, this filly becomes ferociously competitive.
Bank On Greatness x Cute Italian
Italian Beauty's bloodlines are full of proven producers and successful racehorses. Her sire is Bank On Greatness, winner of three different Breeder's Cup races. He is sired by Merry Bay King and Bank On Silver, two of the most notable Hall of Fame Inductees. Her dam Cute Italian's lines are little known, but obviously the pairing was well suited as the mare won the Santa Anita Derby and also the Alabama Stakes before going on to win the Preakness Stakes. She is also a half sister of The True Nut through her sire. Beauty's most notable siblings include Italian Ice, winner of the Canadian Triple Crown and also two Breeder's Cup races; and Great Revenge, who has recently completed his two year old season as a grade three runner.
Race Record: 1-0-0-1 (Maiden)
Preferences: Dirt, 9-12 Furlongs / Preceder
Given that she is a fairly dominant horse, Italian Beauty runs her race from the preceder position. That way, she is ahead of many of the contenders but not spending too much of her energy by setting the pace. Beauty begins to move forward usually at the conclusion of the final turn, depending on the length of the home stretch, moving clear of the tiring front runners before she can be boxed in by the rest of the field. If her rider times the break from the pack right, Beauty pours on the speed and can usually hold them off, if not completely blow them away to secure the win.
