Glorious Sunrise
"Sunrise"
#1249 Y14 16.2hh Bay Filly
Sunrise is a bit of a brat, clearly developing her own personality rather than taking after the easy going persona both of her parents had. She's Italian Beauty's second in command, so in the paddock she's the second biggest bully. Her ears are practically permanently rear facing, and she'll make her displeasure well known if you annoy her, typically in the form of a bruised foot. Oh, and Sunrise also hates men. She's not afraid of them or anything, so maybe she's an aggressive feminist or something. On the track Sunrise is competitive as can be - once she has seen her competition. When she's just on the training oval, she can be difficult to even get going. So it's safe to say she doesn't run just for the fun of it - she runs for the glory of winning.
Bank On Glory x Dusk Runner
Sunrise's sire is Bank on Glory, who was sired by Armidale and foaled by HOF mare Bank On Silver. Bank On Silver is a legend in her own right, without even going into detail of her racing achievements. She is the dam of two Hall of Fame inductees - Euphoria and Impressario. Bank On Glory himself won the Kentucky Derby and the Dubai World Cup. Dusk Runner was a grade three runner, but her most notable achievements are her progeny. She is the dam of Kentucky Derby and Breeder's Cup Classic winner Sunset Crusade, as well as grade one Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner After Dusk.
Race Record: 2-1-0-1 (Grade Five)
Preferences: Dirt 7-10 Furlongs / Preceder
Sunrise likes to take up position behind the leaders. She breaks from the gate quickly and will either take pole position or will happily run on the outside as well. Though she prefers to run behind the leaders until the final stretch (she likes to bully them beyond their limits) Sunrise is also capable of taking the lead if there are no real front runners or the front runners tire early. Regardless, she makes her move around the two furlong mark and is known for her ability pull an extra burst of speed out of nowhere to take the race.
