VENGEANCE WORKS FOR THE MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES DIRT
Hopping onto her second mount of the day, Marissa felt quietly confident. Vengeance was the two year old half sister of her last mount - sired by Admiral's Revenge and out of Lusitania. With bloodlines like hers, there was no way she could be anything other than a champion. Her record currently read 4-1-2-1, and Marissa hoped by the end of the weekend she'd have her second win to her name.
The filly's aggression both on and off the track was handed straight down from her sire. Her relations from her sire's side all had that same attitude, and all were winners. It wasn't her personality alone that would make her a star, but all the genes from both parents. Her sire was a Triple Crown Champion, her dam a Breeder's Cup Classic winner. Vengeance could be both, or she could choose her own path. It was more likely she'd go for the Triple Tiara, given that there was much competition for the Triple Crown already among her juvenile stablemates.
Ven trotted with an arrogance about her. Her nose was up in the air, her tail held straight out behind her. Accompanied by a slight white ring around the eye, the message was clear. Don't mess with me. Not that there was anyone willing to come close enough. Ven could be quite vicious toward her stablemates and workout partners, so it was more often than not that she worked alone.
Marissa was used to the crazy, aggressive ones. Their personalities complimented her daring, wild side perfectly. In fact, Marissa didn't really have any other side. She was just as crazy as the horses she rode. Ven glared at Marissa out of the corner of her eye, but the filly definitely had a lot of respect for her rider. Marissa always got back on when Ven tossed her. She encouraged the filly to do her best. They had quickly become a bit of a team, but there was still a long way to go before Ven completely gave herself to Marissa. A lot of maturing needed to be done.
The Magic Millions was this weekend, and Ven was working for it today. The Fillies Dirt was a ten furlong race for two year old fillies, run of course over the dirt. The field of six was full of talent, and Marissa knew it wouldn't be an easy race. In gate one would be Nirvana, a Witch Creek horse with two wins and a third place behind her. Next there was Nocturnal Runaway of Akita Rose, who had a record of 4-1-1-0 and bloodlines of gold. Third was Valkyrie Stables horse Shenanigans, whose record of 6-2-1-3 showed that she was quality and consistent. Impressionable, the Bank On Greatness filly from Stride Of Perfection, was so ready for another win that she would probably be their top competition. Trinity was another SOPS horse, and with a record consisting of two wins and two fourths, she was another top contender.
Given the size of the field, it would not be difficult for Vengeance to get into position and work her magic. Go. Marissa said simply, and the thoroughbred burst into gallop for the final three furlongs of their workout. Ven was not about to stop the magic - she would top it.
