Jester is always the silly and excitable character you see bouncing and rearing about in his yard. He can go from standing quietly enjoying a pat, to bounding around in playful fits of rearing and leaping within moments. His forward going and spring-heeled nature can come across as rather naughty, as he tends to explode into these episodes without any warning, however he's happy to listen to you once he's been worked, raced, or just had a good chance at letting out his energy. He is usually the character prancing about on the spot whilst loaded in the gates, and his upbeat personality really shows in his racing style; always running as a stalker, he will sit behind the leaders and make his tactful moves during the latter stages of the race. A colt of determination, he will put his all into doing what he does best, however due to his buoyant nature he does require some guidance to keep him on track (and blinkers!). His confidence stands supreme over lots of his peers, quite the dominant character when it comes to relations with other horses; it's not rare to have those below him be pulled out of pasture with a bit more 'decoration'. He is always turned out alone for this reason, however if he's in work out with another horse and not in a canter or gallop, Jester is known to try and sneak the odd nip towards their neck; just as a reminder.

Racing Style:

Gating with Jester is no problem. He isn't nervous at all, however pre-race he can become very anxious, agitated, and work himself up. Because of this, Jester used to wear a twitch almost religiously; applied to release endorphins and calm him before the start of a race. However, as we'd prefer not to use a restraint, we are learning little tricks to keep him happier and easier on the day. He is a stalker at heart and mind, and is viciously relentless in his endeavours to chase. He is an absolute predator on the track, hungry and craving, determined. Jester will break in the lead and drop back to just behind the leaders; his starts always explosive! He will hunt the front runners relentlessly, fiercely pushing them from behind in a vicious effort to intimidate and tire them. He will stay here, unremitting and unyielding, until around the half way stage where he will then begin to move wide around the turn, endlessly ambitious to overtake and come in on the outside of the front runners. A demon of tactic, he will then come down the center of the track, closing within the final two furlongs and hope to take the victory in the race. There is something almost 'violent' about the extremities of his changing pace, from bursting from the gates, to slowing, and then pushing forwards again; his whole body is pushed into the motions, with an absolutely insane hind-drive!
