LUSITANIA'S SOLDIER AND SANTANA'S GOLD WORK FOR MAY DIRT STAKES
Marissa was now desperate to get Soldier over the line first in a race. The colt had been so close, multiple times this season. He'd nearly done it three weeks ago, but hadn't quite had the energy to hold the pace. He'd been run back to back weeks, for five weeks in a row with only one week's rest before the Diamond Stakes in April Week 3. Marissa cursed herself for pushing him that hard. But the colt had come out of the hard work fine and was now stronger than ever after a three week break.
Santana's Gold was new to the stables. She'd been leased by them for a few weeks, but after finding heat in her legs after the filly's first training session, Olivia hadn't had a chance to race her yet. Now that Star Thoroughbreds owned her, and she'd been given the all clear from the vet, Sana was ready to get back out on the track. This year she'd raced twice, for a win and a fourth, back in January. She'd had a good four months off now, and she was ready to race again.
