SILENT FURY, STRIKE A POSE AND GEORGIE'S GIRL WORK FOR SUMMER CUP
Wow, it was going to be a scorcher. Just seven in the morning and already over 30'C. The riders were sweating in their boots, while the horses they hadn't even begun to warm up yet were already getting hot. After all three had mounted up, the two chestnut fillies and bay colt moved off onto the turf track. Cueing Silence to trot, Marissa blew air over her face in an attempt to cool herself down. The four year old colt was stroppy this morning, and bucked a few times to vent his frustration. Marissa felt the same way when she rode him, but she knew it could only be a matter of time before he became absolutely amazing, as Vindictive Fury had in her last season.
Blaze was reasonably happy with how Strike A Pose was going. She'd won her last race, and broken into grade two. He was tasked with riding her to grade one before the end of the year, because it would be her last season. She darted out of the way of Silent Fury's heels as he bucked three times, trotting sideways for a few seconds, almost like she was doing a dressage test, just not nearly as neatly. Stella rode Poser's half sister. Georgie's Girl was the youngest of the three, at three years old. She had similar consistency levels to Strike A Pose, but seemed to come away with the win when it really counted. Stella really wanted to win with the filly in their next race, to finally hit grade three. Her goal with GG this year was to make it to G2.
The three thoroughbreds were entered in three different races in the Summer Cup. Strike A Pose in the Grade Two Turf, Silent Fury in the Grade Three Turf, and Georgie's Girl in the Grade Four Turf.
