EUPHORIA'S WARRIOR WORKS FOR THE CLIMAX CUP

The rematch that was long awaited would finally happen this weekend, in the Climax Cup. Warrior hadn't faced either Eternal Phantom or Instant Success since the Preakness Stakes, and this was the race where they would have the rematch he so desired. After both Instant Success and Eternal Phantom had left the Triple Crown after the Preakness Stakes, Warrior had gone on to win the Belmont Stakes almost easily. This would be like the Belmont Stakes they never ran, because the Climax Cup was also twelve furlongs on the dirt. And Warrior would do everything in his power to win it.

The race wasn't just between the three of them though. Midnight Thriller, who was in fact Eternal Phantom's twin, was also running. The filly was starting to rise through the ranks and had won five of her six wins this year. She would not be forgotten because of her relation to the other filly and her success for this year. Eternal Phantom herself had eight wins this year, including the Kentucky Derby and a dead heat win in the Coaching Club American Oaks with Paradise Island. Instant Success had nine wins this season, and although half of them had been in races that were nothing special, the handsome chestnut colt could never be counted out.

Warrior himself had seven wins this season, and had recently made grade one after his win in The Handsome Mile* against Forbidden To Fly. He had not raced in a single undercard race this year, so his record was looking fantastic at 13-7-5-1 for the season, and 28-13-8-5 overall. He had won nearly half of his starts, so if he continued on his winning streak, in two wins time he would have won exactly half of them.

Stella mused all this as she warmed the colt up, at a trot, on the dirt track. He was feeling great today, and like always he was ready to run in an instant.
