Please note: This workout isn't finished nor will it be but I felt it was necessary for it to be on their pages as the introduction to the workout explains things that would be happening too late in their next workout, which I am starting now for April Week 2.
BORN TO IMPRESS AND WAR CRY WORK FOR THE BLUE GRASS STAKES
Her son was now six months old, and Sarah had lost all her baby weight and was back in the racing saddle. She'd been riding since the beginning of the year, giving herself time to get back to fitness and get back to jockey weight before actually getting on a racehorse. She had instead been riding her previous race mares and stallions, who admittedly weren't really any easier to ride. Born To Impress' mother was one of them, and Sarah had enjoyed a breathtaking gallop on the mare along the beach. She'd then finally felt completely ready to race ride again, and was now mounting up on Impress himself.
The colt looked and felt magnificent. He'd wowed the racing industry by winning against Paradise Island in the Unicorn Horn Dirt Mile six weeks ago, and had since placed second in two races. His next race would be the Blue Grass Stakes, and he would go up against stablemate War Cry for the first time. The dynamite filly had never placed out of the top two, and had won against Ventura and Italian Ice, Impress' half sisters in the Unicorn Horn Dirt. To prepare for the race, Marissa rode with them on War Cry. The filly was shooting daggers at Impress.
He feels great. Sarah commented smiling.
