Smiles is a filly with a great deal of spirit and intelligence. Her desire for competition is huge and she has the will of a champion. No matter what, she refuses to give in to the pressures of others and she is able to keep a level head during a race until the home stretch. Smiles' need for competition also shines through when she's not on the track. She looks for a challenge in everything and will make sure that everyone in the stable knows it if she gets bored. She is the most dominant filly in the pasture so she doesn't let anyone walk over her. She is also often the one to initiate play time, which consists of racing around the pasture kicking up her heels and bossing the other horses about.

With parentage as impressive as this, Smiles was always going to be a champion. Both sire and dam are entered in the Hall of Fame. Everyday Hero was an impressive grade one stallion, earning a record of 51-18-15-9 before retirement, and one of his claims to fame was beating the untameable fellow Hall of Fame mare Rising Fury who he was later crossed with to produce G1 mare Vindictive Fury. All his other offspring are still racing but look to hit grade one with ease. Euphoria is sired by HOF True Enough and HOF Bank On Silver. She reached grade one and retired with a record of 65-25-14-13. Euphoria's notable wins included the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies, Dubai Filly Cup, Climax Cup, Breeder's Cup Distaff Independence Cup and Palm Tree Paradise Invitational. She is also the dam of G1 Euphorion and G1 Euphoria' Warrior.

She will run just behind the front runners for the majority of the race and always has energy left for the straight where she is able to really push, using her spirit and strong heart to make the most of her good positioning and take the win.
